Arthur George Bell, NEA (1849-1916)
He was a London born painter and illustrator of genre and landscape pictures. He studied at the Slade and in Paris at the École des Beaux-Arts. A prolific exhibitor he showed at the Alpine Gallery, Baillie Gallery, Dudley Gallery Art Society, Grosvenor Gallery, Walker Art Gallery, Liverpool, Royal Academy, Royal Society of British Artists, RI, Royal Society of Painters in Oil, and Royal Society o f Watercolour Artists. He was also a member of the Ipswich Fine Art Club. In 1911 was elected RI. Examples of his work are in the collection of Hampshire County Council, London Transport, National Trust and the Russell-Cotes Art Gallery & Museum.
