About Us

It is 45 years since Simon and Kristina Lamb began dealing in fine 18th, 19th and 20th century watercolours, drawings and oil paintings, and original antique maps and prints, from their gallery in Bala, North Wales. In 1982 they moved the business lock, stock and barrel to Dorset where they founded the Swan Gallery in the heart of the historic market town of Sherborne. In 2004 they were joined by their eldest son Christopher as a partner.

The Lamb family prides itself in sourcing paintings that are excellent or outstanding examples of their favourite artists' oeuvres. Subjects include marine, landscape, sporting, portraits, still life and genre. Quality, condition and presentation are very important to them, and their team of conservationists and framers each have more than 25 years' experience. Kristina, who qualified at Camberwell School of Art in 1975, is the conservationist for works on paper. Watercolours are presented in conservation mounts with hand painted wash-lines, and framed appropriately for the period. Where reframing is necessary, frames for oil paintings are expertly made from original period mouldings by their specialist frame-maker.

The Gallery holds bi-annual exhibitions of newly acquired paintings, for which they send out complimentary colour catalogues and/or email alerts, to collectors in the UK and all over the world. Please feel free to add yourself to the mailing list here.
