Thomas Leeson Scarse Rowbotham (1783-1853)
A Landscape & marine painter who began his career in Bristol from about 1803, and in Dublin, where he exhibited from 1815 to 1819. Later he returned to Bristol, where he was a co-founder of the Bristol Sketching Club in 1833, then moving to Bath and in about 1835 to London. He was appointed drawing master at the Royal Navel School, Grenwich. Examples are in the Victoria & Albert Museum, Bristol City Art Gallery, Newport Art Gallery & elsewhere.
